Victory Day is celebrated (throughout Bangladesh) throughout the country as a special day in Bangladesh. Every year on December 16th, the day is celebrated specially in Bangladesh. This day was celebrated as National Day in Bangladesh on January 22, 1972 and officially declared holiday on this day. [1] After 9 months of war, on December 16, 1971, about 91,634 members of the Pakistani occupation forces in Suhrawardy Udyan , formally surrendered to the Joint Forces formed in India and Bangladesh. As a result, Bangladesh in the worldA new independent and sovereign state has emerged. On this occasion Bangladesh Day is celebrated with appropriate emotions and huge enthusiasm every year. On December 16th, the day started 31 times with the tearing. Members of the Bangladesh Army , Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force joined the Combined Military Parade in National Parade Square . The country's chief honorable President or Prime Minister accepted salam as part of the parade A large number of people gathered to see this parade. In Savar , near Dhaka, as a part of paying tribute to those who were martyred in the Bangladesh War of LiberationPeople of all walks of life including President, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader-activists, various social and cultural organizations on national memorials are presenting wreaths.


  • Pakistan' surrender 

After nine months of bloody war in 1971, Pakistani occupation forces were forced to surrender to the joint forces on this day. On that day General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi signed a surrender document on behalf of Pakistan at Race Course ground in the center of Dhaka He surrendered to the Chief of the Joint Forces General Jagjit Singh Arora . The surrender of the Liberation Army Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander Group Captain Abdul Karim Khandaker were present. However, General Osmani , the Commander-in-Chief of the War of Liberation was not present. The surrender document was as follows: [3]
In the Eastern Rally, the Indian Army and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lieutenant-General Jagjit Singh Arora, the Pakistan's Eastern Command, agreed to surrender to all the armed forces in Pakistan. This surrender will be applicable to all semi-military and civilian armed forces, including Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force. Where these forces are located, there will be arms and surrender to the closest soldiers of Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora.
With the signing of this document, the Eastern Military Command of Pakistan will be under the command of Lieutenant-General Aurora. If you do not obey the order, it will be a violation of the terms of surrender and in view of this, action will be taken according to the laws and rules of war. If there is any doubt about the meaning or interpretation of the terms of surrender, the decision of Lieutenant-General Jagjit Singh Aurora will be final.
Lieutenant-General Jagjit Singh Arora declares the assurance of respecting the respected dignity and respect according to the rules of the Geneva Conventions of the surrendered army and pledged the safety and benefits of the surrendered Pakistani military and semi-military people. Protection of the people of foreign nationals, minority ethnic groups and the people of West Pakistan will also be protected through the forces under Lieutenant-General Jagjit Singh Aurora.

The recognition 

The liberation war of 9 months ended with the surrender of the Pakistan army , and an independent state was formed in the name of the Bengali country (later started using it as a word). Almost all the countries included in the UN recognize Bangladesh in the month of independence.

Victory Day Celebration 

Victory Day is being observed in Bangladesh since 1972. In Bangladesh, the war of liberation is an important event for the nation, in many cases, films, poems, articles, media etc. are highlighted. On this occasion, the Bangladeshi military organizes the Victory Day parade in National Parade Square, and also organizes special discussion programs, views-making meetings and cultural shows in different parts of the country. The main roads of the country are arranged with national flags . On this day, special memorabilia was displayed in Savar at National Memorial .

  • 971 : State Bank of Pakistan was renamed Bangladesh Bank .
  • 1972 : The first constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was published. 
  • On 1972 : 15 December , the state titles were announced for special contribution in the liberation war through the Bangladesh Gadget .
  • 1996 : Festival of 25 years is celebrated.
  • 2013 : 27,117 voluntary volunteers gather at the National Parade Ground , gathering together red and green blocks of national flag of Bangladesh , the world records the world's largest human flag.
